The acquisition of Stewart Cooper to crew chief didn't help NASCAR driver Kyle Petty eough. Petty, who sits outside of the top-35 in owner points, failed to qualify for the 43-car field by just one position. Had it not been for Bill Elliott getting a past champion's provisional in the No. 21 Ford, Petty would've made the race.
